Happy 4th of July!
I know you must be asking yourself what the 4th of July, Independence and making money online have to do with one another.
When many Americans in the United States think about the 4th Of July, thoughts turn to patriotism, Independence and the freedoms that many of us enjoy, and quite often take for granted at other times throughout the remainder of the year. And while those are good, relevant and important thoughts given the holiday, my thoughts this year are related, but a bit different. I find that I am indeed thinking thoughts of independence and freedom, but of a different kind. I'm thinking more along the lines of financial freedom.
As oil-per-barrel prices continue to increase, and gasoline prices skyrocket at the pumps, as thoughts and plans regarding transportation of any type, short or long distance, are now a constant issue for consumers, and other transportation-related consumer products (food) also increase, I'm thinking thoughts of financial freedom.
You see, I can't help but think that while those individuals in our society who are on the “well-heeled” side most certainly have concerns about the issues currently affecting our economy, they're not yet being forced to make the types of decisions that many other “not-so-well-heeled” individuals are already being forced to make. For example: “Do we fill the cars with gas so my spouse and I can work this week, or do we pay on the daycare bill so the kids can still attend?” “Do we buy the groceries we need for this week and hold off on the light and water bills, or do we pay the mortgage/rent payment on time, but have no money to carry us through to the next paycheck?”
These are the kinds of decisions that people are making right now, not an example of how bad it may get. “Bad” is here already.
So I'm thinking, what would it be if financial freedom, the kind of independence that comes with the feeling of financial security, what would it be like for our families, households, and communities if more of THAT could be spread around to others? Would it cure what's currently happening and the challenges we face in terms of our national and global economies? Of course not. But people who are not constantly engaged in “crisis mode” are much more likely to consider positive and contributory ideas that can help our overall situation. They're much more likely to actively participate in the problem-solving process. And they're much more likely to be contributors to, rather than only consumers of a community's resources.

Think in terms of new possibilities. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Nice post Kimberly. Here's what it's got me thinking: THANKFULNESS. I'm employed, I have a mortgage and in good health at age 39. Many my wife and I know are not so lucky.
My goal online is to make enough each month to pay my student loan and every month I get closer. Our friends are finding rentals because their homes are in foreclosure.
I'm glad i finished schol and became a teacher 10 years ago. I'm also glad I started making money online.
Sorry I've been away for a bit, I'll try and stop by more :)
Hi Damien-
Thanks for dropping by and for offering your comments. There are a number of people facing some hard times right now, and I fear it will get worse before it gets better.
Making money online is one possible means of helping to minimize financial challenges, and helping to position oneself to be more secure financially.
